What is Opus 5.5?

Claude Opus 5.5 is the first model in Anthropic's new 5.5 family. It matches Claude Fable 5.1 performance on most agentic coding, computer use, and professional knowledge tasks while costing roughly 40% less to run than the prior Opus 5 on typical workloads. Input/output pricing is $4/$20 per million tokens with further reductions on cache reads. It ships with enhanced safeguards and clearer output formatting for long-running agent workflows.
