What is Haiku 5.5?

Claude Haiku 5.5 is Anthropic's latest small model in the 5.5 family, released October 7 2026 as the fastest and most efficient Haiku to date. It targets high-volume cost-sensitive workloads such as summarization classification database queries and subagent tasks under larger Opus or Sonnet models. It features a 1M token context 128K max output adaptive thinking with effort controls and a new tokenizer while pricing starts at $0.10/$0.50 per million tokens for prompts up to 100K.
